Training Activity

The doctorate will offer advanced courses for students, to complete their training and introduce them to scientific research.
These courses may be held either by professors of the University of Turin or by visiting professors, Italian or foreign.
The study plan of the PhD program in Bio-Chemical Sciences involves the acquisition of 180 CFUs
(Crediti Formativi Universitari = University Credits, consistent with the European Credit Transfer System, ECTS):

  • 120 CFU are devoted to research activity
  • the remaining 60 CFU (see below) to scientific and complementary training activities

The doctoral course can include a training period abroad, with a duration agreed between the supervisor and the PhD student.
Out of a total of 60 credits (each credit is equivalent to 4 hours of frontal lessons), the following courses will be provided:

  • Advanced Biochemistry (10 CFU) additional 8 CFU from elective courses or free credits
  • Advanced Animal and Human Physiology and Chemistry (10 CFU) additional 2 CFU from elective courses or free credits
  • Advanced Plant Physiology and Chemistry (10 CFU) additional 2 CFU from elective courses or free credits
  • Advanced Microbiology, Genetics and Molecular Biology (10 CFU) additional 8 CFU from elective courses or free credits

The lessons are held in person and/or on Webex.
Recorded lessons are collected with additional material provided by teachers on the E-learning platform
(e.g., for students engaged abroad).
Free credits are acquired through other activities such as: other courses, seminars, participation in conferences, symposiums, project meetings, etc.
